The Brewster
Most carpenters and joiners in the early colonies learned their craft as apprentices in England, and as a result, houses that were constructed during that period display Jacobean influences.
The panel layout in the Brewster is balanced asymmetrically. The fluted pilasters draw the eye upward. However, the cornice molding and mantel shelf, which shadow the pilasters, nicely binds the design.
