The Deerfield
The Deerfield is based on designs from the mid-eighteenth century in which the entire fireplace wall, and often the entire room, was paneled. The firebox is surrounded by a wide molding with a bold profile that will be accented by the light of a fire. Above the firebox, the raised panels end in distinctive double curves resembling tablets. The profile of these panels is repeated in the panels that form the base of the fluted pilasters that support the cornice and frame the mantel. A thumbnail bead is planed on the rails and stiles surrounding the panels, and mitered in the same way that fine furniture was made.
The Deerfield can be customized to suit the height of your ceiling. It can also be expanded to incorporate paneling that will be specially crafted for the entire wall that the fireplace is on, or even the entire room.
